2008 PAS Composition Contest:
Lou was selected as the second place
winner in the 2008 Percussive Arts Society Composition Competition, Category I, Soloist with Percussion Ensemble. Lou was premiered in 2006 by the OSSIA New Music Ensemble with cellist David Sedlins at the Eastman School of Music and can be heard HERE.

2008 Brian M. Israel Prize:
Baljinder
was selected as the 1st place winner of the 2008 Brian M. Israel competition for his chamber piece
Pitch-Dark Path for horn and strings. Pitch-Dark Path was premiered at the
New World Symphony's Musicians Forum Chamber Music Series in February 2008. The piece will be performed by the Syracuse
Society for New Music during the 2008/09 season.
Composers
Conference Fellowship:
Baljinder has been awarded a fellowship to attend the 2008 Composers Conference at Wellesley
College(July 20 - Aug. 4), where his new work Little Bel for Sinfonietta will receive its premiere.
Belle
Gitelman Award:
Baljinder is a 2008 recipient of the
Belle Gitelman Award, awarded by the Eastman Composition department, and shares this award with Composer Paul Coleman.
2008 Boehmler Foundation Commission:
Baljinder has received this commission to compose a new work for woodwind
quintet and concert band. The work will be premiered by the Arabesque woodwind quintet in 2009.
