"Clearly knowing the power
of sonority” (Philadelphia Inquirer), the music of Baljinder Sekhon is among the most frequently performed of his generation.
Performances of Sekhon’s music have included those in Thailand, Mexico, Brazil, France, Sweden, Canada, and across
the United States.
From works for large ensemble to solo works to electronic music, Sekhon’s music
demonstrates a wide range of interests and influences.
His recent orchestral work
Ancient Dust
was premiered at the Cabrillo Festival for Contemporary Music (Marin Alsop, Director) where it was described as “still
and mysterious, animated, haunting and peaceful” by the Epoch Times.
The
Offering, a new saxophone concerto, will be premiered in July 2011 by the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra and saxophonist
Doug O'Connor in Bangkok, Thailand. In 2009, Sekhon was honored with a commission by the Eastman School of Music's Musica
Nova ensemble for a new work for Grammy-nominated soprano Tony Arnold. The resulting work,
Post, was premiered
at Eastman under the direction of Brad Lubman. Additional platforms for the performance of Sekhon’s music have
included The Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra, The Jerome L. Greene Performance Space (New York City), Silvestre Revueltas
Hall (Mexico City), the Paris Conservatory, MATA’s Interval Series (New York City), New World Symphony’s Musician
Forum Series, the World Saxophone Congress, International Viola Congress, Percussive Arts Society’s International Convention,
and a full concert of his works at John Zorn’s contemporary art space The Stone.

Lou for solo cello and percussion quartet was recently
recorded by the McCormick Percussion Group with cellist Scott Kluksdahl and will be commercially released on Ravello Records
next year. Sheet music of Sekhon's works is available internationally and is published/distributed by Keyboard Percussion
Publications, Glass Tree Press (ASCAP), Steve Weiss Music (U.S.), and Southern Percussion (UK).
Baljinder
is currently a PhD candidate (ABD) at the Eastman School of Music where he became a three-time recipient of the Howard Hanson
Orchestral Prize (2007, 2009, 2010) and virtually every ensemble at Eastman has performed his music. As
Visiting Professor of Composition at the University of South Florida, Sekhon teaches undergraduate and graduate composition,
